Title: Goddess Frog

Date: 2022

Description: The image of the frog goddess is inspired by a black stone figurine from Achilleion (Greece). The frog, alongside the fish, is an allegory of the life-giving aspect of the goddess named by Marija Gimbutas the Life Giver. The frog figure fills the entire composition of the painting. The frog has three-fingered hands and three-toed feet. The number three is a symbol of creative power for me. It represents the great trinity: body-mind-soul. The goddess’s head is shown up to her chin and turned to the left. Her heart is marked by a patch of emerald green. The cloud of blue in the background and under the goddess’s right foot turns into frogspawn, a symbol of fertility. This refers to the abundance, multiplicity, generosity, and diversity that life brings about. She is shown in a squatting position with her legs spread. She is ready to give birth. Literally, it can be a child, and symbolically, any manifestation of the creative power: taking care of oneself, cooking, tending the garden, or helping others in difficult moments of life. It also indicates an important quality of the feminine aspect: receiving and absorbing. This directs attention to action with no action, which indicates the most characteristic of feminine aspect.
